How can who you fall in love with change how society thinks of you? How can falling in love with your chosen ideal life partner shunt every aspect of your being behind your sexuality? Everything you are, all that you've achieved, somehow obscured because of your love for another? Mel and Jill met and connected in a way neither could have foreseen. Both considered themselves heterosexual, end of; Mel is married to Drew, Jill's partner is Greg. So their journey to where they want to be can't run smoothly, if they can get there at all.
Aware of how society would restrict them, and their love for each other, they question why their love should change them. And why society should dictate their identity to them. And why everything they are, is now less important than what society perceives their sexuality to be; and when all they desire is to be left to live their lives quietly, without fuss just as they have always done.
Set in Edinburgh through 2010 to the backdrop of the debate about civil marriage for same sex partners, the girls have to negotiate the full gamut of emotions as they struggle to understand what is happening to them, and the effect it will have on their lives and their world.
But through it all, they derive great strength from the depth of their connection with each other.
This is a contemporary tale of two ordinary people propelled into a world of inequality and prejudice; which those who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual orTransgender, as well as ethnic and religious minorities, have to contend with in their everyday lives.

Women 'n' Love So Happy I Could Die Women Love Book 1 edition by j b taylor Literature Fiction eBooks
What drew me to the book was the promise of an interesting story. I admit to being a sucker for books where the women are still coming into their own. I thought this story was well-conceived. Two women who meet, have an instant soul connection, but are intertwined with others in relationships that don't work and from which they need to exit. Although both women have been "straight" up to the point where they meet and fall in love, they also aren't overly tortured by making the leap into a lesbian relationship. The author has drawn complex characters and a rich story. What ultimately is the weakness of the book is the artificial dialogue at many parts. Sometimes the author launches into dialogues from the characters that just don't seem real or authentic. It doesn't happen much, but when it does it sends a strong signal that the author is not yet skilled at the art of writing authentic dialogue between two characters. I was interested enough in the storyline to finish the book and happy to see that more will follow in a sequel perhaps. Hopefully the next time the author will get a good editor. I look forward to more books from this author.Product details
